The rules one by one
The form this topic is aboutThe word that calls for it
The ending attaches to the whole infinitive.
Falaremos amanhã.We will speak tomorrow.
Only dizer, fazer and trazer shorten.
Faremos o possível. We will do what we can.
In speech ir plus the infinitive stands instead.
Vou falar com ele.I am going to talk to him.
It can express a guess.
Serão nove horas. It must be about nine.
Example sentences
Amanhã choverá em todo o país.Tomorrow it will rain across the whole country.
O contrato terminará em dezembro. The contract will end in December.
Direi a verdade, custe o que custar.I will tell the truth, whatever it costs.

Não será fácil. It will not be easy.
The trap English speakers fall into
Watch out
The ending goes onto the infinitive, not onto a stem. Cut the -r off and you build falaei, which is not a word. The rule is simpler than for any other tense, and that is exactly why it is missed: every other tense has trained you to look for a stem, and here there is none to find.

The full explanation
Read it all · about 1 min
The endings -ei, -ás, -á, -emos, -eis, -ão attach to the *whole infinitive*, not to a stem: falarei, comerei, partirei. The same six for all three conjugations.
Three verbs shorten the infinitive: dizer → direi, fazer → farei, trazer → trarei. Those are all the exceptions in the language.
English has no split of this kind. « I will speak » is at home in a contract and at a bus stop, and the only thing that shifts between them is the vocabulary around it. Here the form itself is marked: falarei belongs to newspapers, contracts and weather forecasts, and said across a kitchen table it sounds like a reading from a document.
It has a second job which in speech is really its first: it expresses a guess about the present. Serão nove horas means « it must be about nine ».
