From these 40 words, as many per round as you like — up to all of them: first what is due today, then new ones. First you choose, then you fill the gap, then you write it yourself. Mistakes come back again shortly.

More about this list

These are the words of a health check report, a pharmacy leaflet and a doctor explaining a result: organs, body systems, symptoms and the everyday business of looking after a body. Most are Sino-Japanese compounds, and the kanji give a lot away — 炎(えん), flame, in 炎症(えんしょう); 臓(ぞう), organ, in 腎臓(じんぞう) and 内臓(ないぞう). A few native verbs describe what the body does on its own, such as しびれる and むくむ, and these are normally written in kana.
