  • Incorrecto Stop eating your nails, you'll hurt yourself.

Correcto Stop biting your nails, you'll hurt yourself.

«Comerse las uñas» es una imagen española. En inglés las uñas se muerden: bite your nails.

Una trampa típica

Incorrecto Do not call at eight — we will eat.

Correcto Do not call at eight — we will be eating.

Esta forma casi nunca se construye mal y casi siempre se olvida. I will work at nine dice que empiezo a las nueve; I will be working at nine dice que a las nueve ya estoy dentro. Y con la pregunta pasa algo que en español no ocurre: Will you use the car? suena a petición, la forma continua no.

El Future Progressive
